8th July 2024

Dear Parents/Carers of St Cuthbert’s,

Sports Day for KS2 Children REARRANGED DATE MONDAY 15 JULY AT 2PM

As you know, our KS2 Sports Day was cancelled due to inclement weather. The rearranged date is Monday 15 July at 2pm. If you would like to join us for the event, please use the gate off Stapeley View. Light refreshments will be on sale. If we need to cancel again due to changes in the weather, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Careers’ Week

Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered to join us during Careers’ Week. The children really enjoyed finding out about a whole variety of jobs and careers from some of our parents and carers. It was a really interesting week for everyone and we will certainly be carrying this on as part of our calendar of whole school events. If you weren’t able to join us this year, please sign up for our next Careers’ Week in the summer term of 2025.

Summer Fair

Thank you to everyone who either donated items or was able to attend the Summer Fair. It was a great turn out on the day and we have raised a massive £1086.00 for our school funds which is absolutely amazing. Thank you, as always, to our PTFA who have done a wonderful job raising donations and organising the fair on the day. We will be using any funds raised to support with educational trips and residential visits next academic year.

End of Year Reports

Your child’s end of year school report will be shared today via email. If your child is in Reception, Year 1, Year 2 or Year 4, you will also receive additional information re: any outcomes from statutory assessments which have taken place this academic year:

Reception – Good Level of Development assessment

Year 1 – Phonics’ Screen

Year 2 – Phonics’ Re-screen

Year 4 – Multiplication Check

We have not shared any of the results of these statutory assessments with the children.

Year 6 End of Key Stage 2 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs)

KS2 SATs results will be released tomorrow, 9 July. There is a lot of administration which needs to take place in school before we are able to share the results with the children. For example, we need to check the papers have been marked accurately and in line with the published mark schemes. This does take us time to do. We will endeavour to have the results ready to share as soon as possible and before the end of the week.

We will share these results with the children on a 1:1 basis so that we can explain the outcomes to the children in person and answer any questions they may have.

Poverty Proofing the School Day – No Gifts Sent into School Initiative

Please remember as part of our Poverty Proofing the School Day initiative, we will not be accepting any end of year gifts into school for any of the adults from the children or families.

In agreement with all staff, any gifts which are sent into school will be donated to local charities. Please support St Cuthbert’s and all of our children and families – please do not send any gifts in.

If parents/carers want to express thanks to staff then please send in a card, a letter or an email. This feedback is so valuable to our well-being and has such a positive impact and really is very much appreciated. We will also be providing all of the children with the necessary materials and the opportunity to make a card for any of the adults in school if they wish to do so.

Reception/Year 6 Buddies - No Gifts Sent into School Initiative

Please note, our No Gifts into School Initiative also extends to our children, with particular reference to our Year 6/Reception Buddies. Please do not send or bring any gifts into school to be shared between the children or families on our school premises so that we can ensure no children are left out.

We will be giving all of the Reception and Year 6 children time and resources to make cards for each other before the end of the summer term.

Summer Holiday Free School Meal (FSM) Vouchers

Newcastle City Council have just confirmed that they will be providing FSM vouchers for eligible children. These will be worth £15 per week per eligible pupil and will be shared with families via email link, as usual.

Non-uniform Day and Uniform Swap Shop

As shared previously, we will be having a Non-uniform Day on the last day of term. This is so children can come into school in their own clothes and bring with them, any spare uniform items which they don’t need any more. This could be because they have grown out them or they no longer need them as they are moving to high school. We ask that any items sent in are clean and in a good condition. We would also accept any PE items or shoes/trainers which, again, are clean and in a good condition.

We will sort thorough any items donated and they will be laid out in the large hall for parents and carers to browse at the end of the day before children are collected. We are requesting a small donation for each item will go into our school funds.

Please take advantage of this opportunity – you could save a fortune!
